You think, it’ll take a long time to speak German well? You are right, but we can assure you, that it does not take as much time as to build a cathedral. 632 years passed before the construction of the most visited sight in Germany was finished – that is the Cologne Cathedral. Today the church is a genuine attraction. 157 meters high with room for 20,000 people. If we would undertake to build a cathedral like that nowadays, it would cost 10 billion Euro. The famous Cologne landmark is also a symbol of the town’s joie de vivre. The cathedral is surrounded by small lanes with restaurants, cafés and clubs. And having an ice-cream in summer while cooling your feet in the Rhine river is relaxing. The mighty cathedral towers will provide protection against sunburn.

Wiesbaden information

www.wiesbaden.de
You might even think, that Wiesbaden is not the right place to study German. The first words you will learn when you come to Wiesbaden are French or English: Faites vos jeux, Roulette, Black Jack or Poker... Of course, you guessed right: Wiesbaden is Germany‘s Monte Carlo. The town is rich and beautiful and the casino is world-famous. Nobility, musicians, writers and other famous people were charmed by the Wiesbaden casino: Fjodor Dostojewski, Richard Wagner and Elvis Presley tried their luck at Wiesbaden. However, with diligence and hard work as well you can launch your career here, because Wiesbaden is the perfect place to study German: You‘ll have your peace and quiet without being bored - c‘est parfait!

Although the modern city of Frankfurt is only a 40 minutes city train trip away – there are some good reasons to come to Wiesbaden: The town with a population of 275,000 is not only the capital of Hesse, one of the German federal states, but also one of the most beautiful towns of the region. Only little destroyed during the last war the town center impresses with spacious living areas, boulevards and facades in the style of classicism and Art Nouveau. Other than the numerous sights there is much more to do here: The goEast- and Exgrounds-film Festival, the Apple tree blossom feast and the Wilhelm Street Festival, to mention only a few.

The big city is not far away – it takes only 30 minutes by train from Augsburg to Munich. Being the third biggest town in Bavaria, Augsburg, has its own distinctive charm. Life is more unhurried and less hectic here than elsewhere. Everywhere you find burbling fountains, people sitting in street cafés or students gathering for a football match in the parks. And of course, you can breathe history everywhere in town. In the Renaissance times Augsburg was a center of architecture, music and painting. The painter Holbein’s and the composer Mozart’s ancestors lived here, not to forget another well-known Augsburg citizen, the playwright Bert Brecht. Once you have been here, you will come back –because learning German is fun here.

Nuremberg information
www.nuernberg.de

If it had been popular in medieval ages already to book a language course in Germany, Nuremberg would have been the place to be. Back then the town was considered to be one of the most beautiful and richest commercial centers in Europe. What you could not find here, you would not have seen or found anywhere else either. Of course, since then the town has changed. Nowadays Nuremberg is a vibrant and modern big city. But you can still feel the great historical importance of the town. Numerous magnificent patrician houses, palaces and churches give evidence of that. It is also a center of sports – no wonder, since Nuremberg is home to one of the most traditional German football clubs.
