Learn German in Vienna in Austria

The school was founded in 1988 and has 6 classrooms, all equipped with the modern linguistic and audio-visual technique. It is in the centre town, not far from the opera and the palace. It will be a very international place of meeting.

Tuition Programs

• 1 lesson: 45 minutes
• Minimum age: 17
• Schedule: (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
• Maximum of 12 students per class, average of  8.
• All programs: 5 additional lessons per week of cultural interest: city tour, dance course, video and conversation upon history, music, art, literature;  admission not included. 
• All levels available
• Multi-media centre available and library
• language laboratory
• Access to Internet and Email. WIFI
• Evaluation and certificate of linguistic training.
• Teaching material included.
   
• 30 lessons per week: 20 lessons (group) + 10 lessons (mini group of 5 to 8 students).
   
• German for business: 20 general lessons + 10 specific for the business world: minimum level required: intermediate.
   
• German and music: One instrumental or vocal lesson per week (40 minutes). Where: Vienna academy of Music. Certificate to be issued at the end of the program. A previous 20 lessons per week program is compulsory.
   
• Refresh course for foreign teachers of German: 2 weeks, 20 lessons per week. New teaching methods will be learned. Welcome dinner or theatre evening included.
   
• Exams:  Mittlestufe, Grundstufe Deutsch, Zertifikat Deutsch,         Wirtschaftssprache: 2 weeks only. 12 preparation lessons upon 2 weeks regular course (8 in group and 4 private). A 20 lessons course is previously compulsory. Exam to be paid directly on site:
  Mittlestufe : 68€
       Grundstufe Deutsch: 62€
               Zertifikat Deutsch: 62€
                    Wirtschaftssprache: 96€
   
• Internship, Co-op program. Upper intermediate or advance level required. A 4 weeks minimum course is previously compulsory. The training: minimum 4 weeks (Europeans) or 8 weeks (others) to 1 year. CV and a letter in support of application are compulsory. ONLY EUROPEANS ARE PAID DURING THE TRAINING IF 8 WEEKS MINIMUM, 40 hours per week, 290 Euros per month.

Starting Dates

Beginners must start on these dates. Other levels, every Monday of the year.

   * Starting dates for "business German" only

   + EXCLUSIVELY reserved for Refresher course for foreign teachers of German

   EXAMS: preparation on the following dates:
                  10/03, 13/05, 4/08, 8/09, 3/11
You will pass your exam after these 2 weeks sessions, at the end of the 2nd week.

School closing dates

For those having German and music/lyric arts there will be no course to the Academy of Music on the following dates:

Options available

• Transfer (one way), station or airport: 35 €
   
• 1 additional hour per week of music or lyric arts: 45 €
   
• Many excursions available on site and to be paid directly at school. 1 full day from 33 to 65 Euros.
  1/2 day from 17 to 28 Euros.
  

Our prices are available from January 1st to December 31st, 2008. These prices never include the Air Fare.

Family, residence hall, apartment, school residence accommodations.

• Arrival Sunday.
• Departure Saturday.
• Family or residence or apartment: room in single or double occupancy (share not guaranteed, upon availability), 0, 1 or 2 meals per day. In apartment, no meal. A 100 Euros deposit will be required and refunded at the end of your stay is no damage caused.

• School residence. Close to school and city center (10 minutes by public transport). Quiet located apartment with free WLAN/Wi-Fi, next to underground station. Newly renovated, typical Viennese „Jugendstil“ (Art Nouveau) -Building. The well-equipped apartments are shared with other school students. Single or twin rooms with TV-set. 2-5 students share kitchen and bathroom. Cleaned twice a week. Meals: Use of kitchen, breakfast or halfboard. A 100 Euros deposit will be required and refunded at the end of your stay is no damage caused.

Our greeting families are recruited with great care. The criteria of selection are very rigorous and each family must satisfy a precise schedule of conditions: excellent morality, desire to communicate with their host, satisfactory social standing. We should specify that the families will only speak with you the language of the country where you will be. It is the principle of the immersion courses!
 

City information

Vienna, capital of Austria, is divided in 23 districts. Its population is approximately 1,531,000 inhabitants. It became during the XII century a stage of crossroad of Bysance (vestiges of Romance churches) and during the XIII century the capital of the Habsburg states and remained it until 1918. Rodolph IV founded in 1365 the first university of German language. Its high Gothic cathedral Saint-Etienne was completed in 1433. It decorated Renaissance Palace (of which Porcia) before becoming the bastion of Christendom with the Turks, who occupied Hungary during the XVI century and partially destroyed the city in 1683.It was covered with baroques monuments (palace of the aristocrats, Hofburg, church St-Charles de Borromee and at the following century of traditional rococo monuments , castle of Schonbrunn), at the same time as it became the European heart of artistic and musical life. Its people built Albertina, the national Library: Gluck, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven played there. Vienna is now the seat of many congresses and world organizations and accommodates each year many tourists who will collect themselves on the tombs of Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert.
