Tuition programs

• 1 lesson: 45 minutes
• Minimum age: 16
• Schedule: 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, flexible according the chosen program.
• During the summer season, schedules may change a little.
• Maximum of 12 students per class.
• Mini group , 8 students per class.
   
• Business English: 30 lessons per week. Intermediate level required. 20 lessons (AM) general English, 10 lessons (PM) business. 
   
• CAMBRIDGE: (FCE, CAE, CPE): 8 or 12 weeks. + 1 additional week for exams: Accommodation 9 or 13 weeks). Exams fees of 90GBP to be paid on the spot.
   
• LONG TERM course: free inbound taxi transfer, free local bus passfor the duration of the course, Long stay programme study room, free weekly tutorials and tests on request, University placement service.
   
• All levels required  
• Orientation city tour.

• Internet access, café
• Evaluation and attestation of linguistic learning

Starting dates

Beginners must start the first Monday of each month.
Other levels, each Monday. 

CAMBRIDGE: (FCE, CAE, CPE)
    8 weeks: January 7*, April 14, October 13.
   12 weeks: March 17 or September 15. 

         * CPE will not start at this date.

School closing dates.

The school will also be closed from December 22 and January 2nd, 2009.

• EXECUTIVE ENGLISH 8 students per class, 25 lessons per week of business English plus certificated professionnal Business training to include effective communication & presentation Skills (phone, computers, .....) .

  Tailored especially for those who use English in the workplace. They offer a chance to concentrate on:

  • communicating with clients or colleagues abroad
  • participating in meetings or negotiations
  • making presentations, telephone calls and emails in English
  • developing your fluency, accuracy, and above all, confidence in speaking English
  • EXECUTIVE ENGLISH: March 10th, May 12th, September 22nd, October 13th.

Our greeting families are recruited with great care. The criteria of selection are very rigorous and each family must satisfy a precise conditions of contract: : excellent morality, desire to communicate with their host, satisfactory social standing. We should specify that the families will only speak with you the language of the country where you will be. It is the principle of the immersion courses!

Staying in a Torbay home is an interesting alternative to staying in a hotel and offers an excellent opportunity to get to know the English way of life. What has been learnt in the lessons can be practise "at home".
We arrange for students to stay in carefully selected host families in either a single room or a shared room with breakfast and an evening meal.
The majority of our host families live in the residential parts of Paignton, some close to the school, some up to 20 minutes by local bus from the school.
 

  26 bed room hotel, ideally positioned by the park and beach on Braeside Road, a ten minute walk from the school and 175m from the beach. A family-run hotel with a warm welcome and excellent facilities. Each of the rooms has en-suite facilities, TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities and central heating. The hotel offers sun patios, a children's play area and a bar, games room including pool table and laundry room. Free use of the popular Torbay Leisure Centre is included in the package price.

City Information

Paignton is a pleasant town of South of Devon. You can walk along the beautiful sandy beaches, linger in numerous attractions as the zoo, the Compton castle, the Kirkham house, the New Barn fishing centre, the Of Oldway castle, the Paignton aquarium, etc. etc... You will go of discoveries to discoveries.

SAMPLE ACTIVITIES

The school offers students the opportunity to tour the south-west of England in our own minibuses. We provide a wide-ranging and extensive program of excursions and activities to suit every taste.
For example, walks on the glorious coastline, visits to picturesque towns such as Dartmouth, Totnes and Brixham, and to historical cities such as Plymouth and Exeter, are all regularly offered in the excursions program.
At the weekend we also organize trips to Dartmoor National Park, with its unique landscape, and to Cornwall, famous for its pretty fishing villages and its spectacular Atlantic Ocean coastline.
Our 'old country pub' evenings are particularly popular, often with jazz or folk music and visits are also arranged to theatres and musicals.
All the minibus trips are personally led by our trained drivers and guides who provide information about the places we visit and the English way of life.
For sports-minded students there are tennis courts and 9-hole golf courses nearby. For indoor sports such as squash, badminton, volleyball and swimming, the Torbay Leisure Centre is situated just ten minutes walk from the school. Information and advice on all local and national leisure pursuits are available at the school reception.
