Town Information

The birth of Nashville dates 1710 when French Charles Charleville settled down in border of the river Cumberland there, at the level of the 1st avenue. English took up places in 1778, reappointing it Strong Nashborough in honour of the general Francis Nash, one of the American heroes of the independence. It was reappointed Nashville in 1784, doubtless in reaction against English. The city then developed around the historic centre called " the district ", including Broadway, the 1st and the 2nd avenue as well as Printer Alley. Nashville became the capital of the state of Tennessee in 1827 succeeding Knoxville and Murfreesboro. Nashville is a city of 510.000 inhabitants (a million inhabitants including neighbourhood) crossed by the river Cumberland today. It is possible to make mini-cruises on boats "General Jackson Showboat" or "Music city Queen". Contrary to Memphis, the population of the city is in white great majority.
Cradle of the music country, big centre of the disc industry, it is also called " Music city ". By arriving at Nashville, I imagined myself that I was going to meet people dressed in cowboys with cowboy boots and a hat. In my great surprise, the only cowboys that I crossed were European tourists while the inhabitants of Nashville are often dressed in a strict suit - tie.
The annual big event on Nashville is Fan Fair, a big festival of country which lasts complete week in June when every disc house presents its artists.

Hard Rock Café is particularly well situated on Broadway between the 1st and the 2nd avenue. It distinguishes itself by a monumental painted wall very spectacular .

Country concerts to Legends Corner.

Printer Alley. It involves a pedestrian alley situated in the heart of downtown Nashville between the 3rd and the 4th avenue (in some sorts 3 ½) which goes of  Business street to Union Street. At the beginning of the 20th century, this alley grouped together the printers, the publishers and the whole local press, where from its name of Printer alley. Beyond the certain hour, it has looked of little captivating rough place. The printing is false. Force you to go there, you will not regret it. This passage is an ideal place to spend good musical evenings, it abounds in bars, of cabarets, Honky-tonks where we can listen to some good music, the country naturally but also the blues because it is there that is situated the most famous Nashville blues club: the Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar.

Near Nashville some kilometres away you can visit the city of Memphis and visit Graceland
Elvis Presley's house and property.
