Our greeting families are recruited with great care. The criteria of selection are very rigorous and each family must satisfy a precise conditions of contract: : excellent morality, desire to communicate with their host, satisfactory social standing. We should specify that the families will only speak with you the language of the country where you will be. It is the principle of the immersion courses!

Aim
This course is intended to enable practising teachers to improve
their professional competence, to promote contact with the language
and culture they teach, to establish professional contact and to
promote innovation in methods of English teaching.
Who should attend?
This course is intended for practising English teachers who want to
include a cultural dimension in their lessons.
Culture in Language Teaching/Methodology
Course participants will be able to develop and explore their
knowledge and use of English using a task based approach, focusing
on aspects of Irish life and culture. They will also have the
opportunity to evaluate the methods and techniques introduced on the
course with reference to their own individual teaching situation.
Both well established and innovative methods of English language
teaching are used and then later examined and discussed.
Participants will have the opportunity of becoming familiar with
many of the latest published materials and through practical
workshops sessions will be able to produce and try out supplementary
materials and teaching aids. Opportunities to work with video and
other technology are also provided.
The School
Our center was founded in 1966 and ran its first course for teachers
in 1974. The teachers training department provides initial and
in-service courses for native and non-native teachers. The
department is fully equipped and members of the department are
actively involved in a variety of areas of research.
Accommodation
Is arranged in homestay on request. Part-board: single room, bed,
breakfast, evening meal Monday - Friday; all meals Saturday and
Sunday.
Duration: 2 weeks (25 hours per week)
Dates: 7-18 July 2008 or 21 July -1 August 2008
There is also a full programme of excursions and events in which teachers may participate.

Capital and port on the coast, in the mouth of Liffey river. The Vikings became established there in the IXth century and stayed there until Irish king Brian Borues threw them away in 1014. In the XIIth century Dublin was a base to the Norman for the conquest of Ireland in 1170. The old town is in general of Georgian style. Leinster House, where Dail set place ( Irish parliament) was built from 1744. Short Custom House and Oven date the second half of the XVIIIth century. It is in its Mansion House, place of residence of the lord mayor since 1715, that was pronounced the declaration of independence in 1919. The cathedral Saint Patric (tower of the XVth century) is surmounted by an arrow of XVIII' s. Dublin is an important fishing port and travelers (terminal and ferries). The most important brewery of Europe ( Guinness) is settled near Hueston Station. Dublin is finally the religious and intellectual centre of the country, the seat of a famous university (Trinity college) .Home land of Jonathan Swift, Georges Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, James Joyce.
